Why learn how to choose Early Elementary literature?

I chose this topic because I believe that many of us don't know how to properly choose books for our students. Books need to be engaging, age appropriate, and help our students learn. My goals are to find strategies for picking the right literature for our classrooms and to give a better understanding as to what students are more interested in reading.
